My students need a writing center to help stimulate writing as an enjoyable, self-chosen, meaningful activity.

Do you remember the first time you went from writing scribble to writing words? The writing center will give the children a special place to go for writing. It will also give them easy access to all the writing materials available to them.
My students are Pre-K students who live in a high poverty area.
95% of the students are on free and reduced lunch. Inspiring these students at this age is very important. They are a very energetic group who are very motivated at learning new things. The excitement of learning new experiences, exploring new writing materials is evident through the looks on their faces.
The writing center will build an interest in writing. It will hold a variety of writing tools and materials in which children may use to help inspire them. This will help encourage risk-taking in their writing. The children will be encouraged to share their writing with their peers.
I hope you will support our project.
Young children need writing to help them learn about reading, they need reading to help them learn about writing. This center will help inspire them to choose writing as an activity. It will give them an advantage when they begin to read what they write.
