FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Gale's classroom raised $175
This project is fully funded
I'm an 8th grade English teacher in a middle school in suburban North Carolina. My students live in what once was a rural area that is now exploding with development. Our community has been battling a proposed landfill/auto-recycling center. Recently my students learned about recycling and started a recycling program at our school that involves several classrooms and community places at our school. We currently recycle paper, plastic, aluminum and glass.
I would like to take their environmental education one step further by introducing them to composting. Not only does this address landfill space but water conservation as well. Students from the 6th and 8th grade would be responsible for identifying, advertising and collecting the suitable material from the classrooms and cafeteria. They would be responsible for maintaining the project and collecting data.
I believe that with this type of hands on learning my students will become adults who make wise and informed decisions concerning the environment in their homes and communities.
Please consider sponsoring an Urban Compost Tumbler for our school. The experience and education to my students will be invaluable.
