Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever been to a foreign country where you could not speak the language? Did you feel frustrated, afraid, upset, scared, helpless when you couldn’t communicate? My students feel like that every day in their own country and are working hard every day learn to speak and communicate effectively.

My students are amazing, wonderful individuals with special needs.

They all have communication, speech and/or language difficulties and are working hard every day to become better communicators. Many are also second language learners. I have about 50 students on my caseload ages 3-11 years and they are such a joy to be around. Each is unique and special in their own ways. It is so much fun to be their speech language pathologist and I learn so much from them every day.

My Project

I am requesting materials which will help my student become better communicators. These therapy materials will help give my students a voice so that they can get their daily needs, academic and social needs met and so that they can successfully communicate within the classroom and at home. I am requesting therapy materials which include articulation materials to help enable my students to become more intelligible so other will be able to understand them better. These articulation materials include Peabody Picture Articulation Deck kit of cards for early developing sounds like b/m/p/v/f for my little ones and the Entire World of R and L which will help my older students target these difficult sounds. I am also requesting materials which will help students organize language so that it makes sense and is understandable to others. I am requesting materials which include Learning to Sequence, Binder Language 4 Life, and Book of Accion Spanish Verb Worksheets for my Spanish speaking students

These donations will greatly impact my daily lives.

They will decrease frustrations and increase their school and social satisfaction. Communication affects every aspect of life and they will use their new found skills for the rest of their lives.
