Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are frustrated by constantly losing their data and having to start over again. This is especially a problem when they are typing essays or working on large projects.

My school is in a low income area.

Many of the students are the children of minimum-wage earners who had little education themselves. My class is comprised of the gifted and highest functioning students in the fourth and fifth grades. These students are committed to doing the things they need to do to become successful scholars who will graduate at the top of their class in high school, and hope to be competitive applicants for academic scholarships to prestigious colleges. Because of their disadvantaged background, they face a greater struggle in order to reach their goals. Their parents are supportive, but in many cases are not educated enough or affluent enough to provide what their children need to be successful.

My Project

Flash drives for data storage will enable students to have a more positive experience working with technology. Most of my students do not have access to computers or Internet at home, so they rely on what they are learning at school. I am trying to prepare them to be citizens in a digital world.

My students deserve to have access to the basic technology that their peers in more affluent areas have.

They are preparing now for their future as college scholars and contributing citizens. Please help them be ready for the challenges they will face.
