My Students

Time is on my side - we are in need of timers for our 6th grade science classrooms.

My students are from all different backgrounds both economically and physically.

I have students who are hearing impaired, legally blind, non-english speaking, and many of my students have parents who are currently out of work so times are tough. But all my students are entitled to learn and they all get excited about science!

My Project

One of the main concepts we work with in Science class is graphing our data. Many of our physical science activities involve using a stopwatch to measure how long something has happened in our experiments. Often we have to rely on the clock or even just counting in our heads because I do not have enough timers for my students. I want to be able to teach my students how to set up an experiment that involves timing it and without timers it makes it very difficult to monitor the experiment accurately.

These timers will not only benefit my classroom but will also be used with the other science teachers in my school that need timers.

With enough for a class, these timers will be helpful when we're timing coaster experiments, chemical reactions, force and motion experiments and more! These timers will give our students a chance to incorporate more math skills and graphing skills into the classroom by having a tool that can accurately measure time.
