My Students

Our school library does not have books on CD available for check-out. Listening to reading is an intricate part to the learning to read process.

My school is an at-risk Title I school.

My students come from many different backgrounds. Most of my students do not have access to books at home. They come to school eager to read and be read to. Our class sizes are continuing to grow making it harder and harder for the teacher to give the students one on one reading time.

My Project

We need various books on CD, including sing-alongs, read-alongs and Dr. Seuss. Having books on CD will be a huge help on the road to fluency for my students. They will be able to read along and self correct when they hear a word they read incorrectly. These books on CD will allow my students to enjoy a book independently while the words are being read to them.

This project is so important to the success of my young readers.

I wish I was able to sit and read to them all day long, but that is not possible. Having these books on tape will allow them to be independent readers as they read along with the CD.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
