My students need a river tank ecosystem, with accessories and animals.

My Students

A river runs through it (our classroom). How cool would that be? Can you help my students become interested in protecting our waters?

My students are curious learners.

Most of them learn visually. This river tank will make my room a more interesting place for them to visit, and will help them to better understand the biotic and abiotic factors of ecosystems. Students will also work together to perform tank maintenance.

My Project

Help my students to understand ecosystems and river morphology! Our curriculum mandates that our students study ecosystems. We take a field trip each year to help the students recognize how various ecosystems are unique. This river tank would deepen their understanding. There are also some "mini labs" that we can perform using this tank. One of the lab activities I am planning will teach students about surface water contamination. Students will also perform activities to learn about the relationship between groundwater and surface water.

This project is important to my students and I because it stimulates an interest in science, and will encourage students to become aware of the importance of our waters.

Students will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting this valuable resource.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
