My Students

We use art to help us interest students and inspire learning. Using art, students create a fictional creature based on metric measurements. With art, students illustrate their acrostic poems. Using art, students create a poster/map of the island setting of a novel.

My students are 5th grade elementary students.

Our school is located in South Carolina on a military base. Most of the students come from military families. They are ready to be inspired to continue their learning and challenged to excel in their education. Approximately 75 students will benefit from these materials.

My Project

I want all of my students to have the materials available to them that are needed to enrich their learning regardless of whether they have the ability to buy them. All of the students can benefit from the art activities that we will have integrated into our Math, Writing, and Reading classes. A picture is worth a thousand words and helps children learn. These markers, scissors, clay, glitter glue, and brilliant paper make learning come easier and inspire creativity.

I will be teaching approximately 75 students this school year. I have my students illustrate and model many concepts that they learn throughout the school year. I feel that this "hands-on", concrete way of learning helps students lay hold of the concepts we teach. I also want all students to have the advantage of having the same materials to work with even if they cannot buy them. Thank you again for your consideration.
