Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students at our school are lacking in leadership skills and ability. This has caused our 5th and 6th graders to move to middle school without knowing the keys to being successful in the classroom and in life. You can help us change this!

Our students come from the state of California.

The majority of the students receive reduced or free lunch due to the economic challenges their parents face. These students have the heart and the desire to become great leaders now and in the future. However, many of them have never received the opportunity to harness these skills together in order to succeed as students and as people.

My Project

My plan is to utilize John Wooden's Pyramid of Success to teach students how leadership skills change individuals and also the people around them. The binders will be used to keep notes from each subject area. Furthermore, the notebooks will be utilized in writing reflections that support the leadership training that they will receive 3 times per week. Moreover, the student planners will allow the students chosen for this program to keep track of their homework and important dates. Finally, the book "Leadership" will serve as part of our discussions regarding leadership and why it is vital in building a positive community in their school and in their lives.

Through this project students will complete 30 hours of community service with their parents, complete 100% of their homework, be responsible for turning in progress reports weekly from their teachers, receive one-on-one tutoring, and learn studying and leadership skills.

These materials are vital to their success. It is the goal of this project to ensure that these students begin to build the foundational academic and leadership skills that will serve them in planning for college.
