My Students

Imagine a classroom where you look out and see defeated faces because those students don't feel the same as everyone else. They can't open lockers because they don't have functional skills or capabilities to open a lock on a locker. Help our kids to feel "normal" by giving them a a locker.

My students come a wide variety of backgrounds and have a variety of disabilities.

Many of those students have broken homes where parents are worried about where their next meal is. Their only security is coming to school to eat and feel safe. They are in control of their own life and what happens to them. They live in a city where crime and poverty are high and attend a Charter school where nothing but the highest expectations are held. Help these students achieve their destinies!

My Project

My students need a few lockers to help learn the safety of keeping their personal materials safe. Many students don&'t have the functional skills to use regular lockers. If my students were to have these lockers, they would be able for once to feel normal. They are aware that they don't look like everyone else, act like everyone else or understand things like everyone else. They would be able to feel like they were the same as their peers because they had their own lockers like their peers. They could learn responsibilities of being a young adult and know their materials are safe and secure like everyone else.

By donating to this project, you will not only be impacting a small population, but providing those students with a chance to be the young adults they are.

You can allow them to express themselves in a space that is theirs to decorate. Thank you for your help!
