Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school requires all students to submit portfolios in order to be evaluated. For the past 15 years we have accepted three ring binders. We would like to step into the electronic age and make the student portfolios all electronic.

Our students represent the diversity of our urban city.

This year we are now a Title I school due to the increase of reduced lunches. Sometimes the English language is not the first language of our students. Portfolio submission and written reflections help our students.

My Project

A classroom scanner will enable the students to scan their written work and upload this particular piece for their presentation of their portfolio. The students also are required to design a year long environmental project and document this with pictures. A scanner will allow students' photos to use in their portfolio.

A computer scanner will help our students focus on their English and sentence structure since actual work can be scanned and displayed on the large classroom projector screen.

Having other students view and review each others work can be another way to learn.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
