My Students

Preparing students for the ever-changing world of business is a challenge! Students vary in the way they learn and giving students a worksheet doesn't meet all their diverse learning styles. Listening and creating podcasts, and sharing information via technology helps differentiate their instruction.

My students love business!

They enjoy learning about technology, ethics, leadership, communication, and global business. They attend a school that needs to prepare them to compete at post-secondary schools and in the workforce with other business-minded young adults. We live in a world of competition - and my students will be leaving next year to attend schools like UW-Madison, UW-LaCrosse, and UW-Whitewater. They will also be leaving the state to attend schools in Minnesota where students are supplied with laptops. I want to make sure all my students have the opportunity to learn about technology and how it is being used in businesses around the state, nation, and world. My students deserve to be engaged and motivated to learn in my classroom, and providing them with learning opportunities that meet their diverse learning styles will help me meet that goal.

My Project

With your donation, the students in my classroom will have access to iPods that have educational podcasts downloaded onto them. They will have the opportunity to listen to audio and see video podcasting on topics like business management, leadership skills, entrepreneurship, human resources, business ethics, and business communication. They will learn how technology is used in businesses all over the world to make a company efficient and competitive. My students will have an opportunity to reflect on these podcasts and create their own audio and video podcasts to share via blogs, wikis, and other business networking sites. Students will learn listening and speaking skills while using the iPods made possible through this donation. Students will learn the power of their voice, and how to share information with an unlimited amount of people.

This project is very important to me because I've spent the last several years finding ways to improve learning in my classroom.

Business is an essential part of our American economy, and I truly want my students to have the most up-to-date and relevant information that is available. I don't use textbooks in class; information changes too fast to keep up. I rely on technology and other resources to educate my students. This donation would give them the gift of technology.
