Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever tried to plant a garden with out tools and money to buy good potting soil? My students do! This past spring we had to borrow gardening tools and forge for compost!

My students are from low-income backgrounds and are usually from single-parent homes or raised by grandparents.

They love learning outdoors and prefer hands-on experience rather than textbook learning. Each one has their own talent but they all like in one way...outside experiences bring out their true personalities. Troublemakers on the inside become leaders on the outside. Simply put...outdoors for sure is the best way for my students to learn!

My Project

First off, my students will learn that someone actually cares... who parades around looking for someone or a cause to donate money to? My students need these items to make our school's next garden come along with much more precision. You can not tend to a garden without tools and you can not grow healthy plants without good fertilizer! Less time will be spent searching for tools and compost and spent learning about the economical advantages of agriculture and ecological science.

My gardening project is important because students prefer personal experiences, not someone Else's.

My goal is to teach students to love and enjoy the subjects I teach, not kick them off as part of their education that they could not stand to bare in the classroom. Help me help them! Thank you for any considerations that you are making on this matter...it is people like you who make the world a better place!
