My Students

My students are mostly visual learners. When I present information on the overhead they grasp the information faster. They were very happy to see that a Document Camera received from Donor Choose presents texts in their original form. The problem is that I do not have access a projector as needed.

My students are special needs students with various disabilities.

They are 8th graders looking forward to attending high school next year in North Carolina. They are mostly African American and Hispanics. They are from poor social economic background. Eighty percent are on free or reduce lunch program.

My Project

The projector is needed to operate the Document Camera I received from Donors Choose. Students see or view materials in their original form. They grasp information faster. This technique will be very useful in reviewing skills for final examinations. But the problem is that I have to be on the waiting list for a projector. My school does not have enough projectors for teacher to check out on as needed bases. My school system is facing a severe budget deficit. So please, help fund a LCD projector for my students. Consistency will help my students excel.

My project is very important because as a teacher I can tell what impact visual aid or technology has in the education of students.

Students retain and retrieve information better when they are presented visually. Moreover, technology booster their self-esteem because I could see how they are eager to participate in class activities such as pointing out the clues to answers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
