My Students

School music programs are important for helping students develop a well-rounded set of skills needed for success in later life. Unfortunately, our school budget for music gets smaller every year, and these supplies will help with my students' performances.

My students are from mostly lower-middle class families in a rural area of Western Pennsylvania.

While our district is careful with its resources, there is not a large tax-base from which to draw revenues. This means that many times we have to "do more with less." The students understand this, and rise to the challenge every time to succeed despite not having the finest equipment.

My Project

Our performing ensembles (particularly jazz ensembles) will be using these materials to help them perform better in live concerts. One of the principals in the building mentioned to me that it's hard for him to know what is "real" when he listens to the radio. That is why he loves coming to concerts at the school - he knows that the kids are actually playing the music.

This project is my first step in using DonorsChoose.

With your help, I will be able to expand and maximize this resource to provide materials that otherwise would not be available for my students.
