My Students

We all need to be more aware of the world around us. The document camera will eliminate the need for plastic overheads and give us a visual tool for learning and sharing. We would like to have a tool in the classroom that follows our classroom ethics of recycling and environmental consciousness.

I have a regular education classroom with 28 students in my class.

I have 8 students with learning difficulties including a student with Cerebral Palsy. I have 4 students that are recognized as gifted and talented. All of my students are eager to learn and treat each other with respect. I have an even number of girls and boys in my classroom. They are curious and creative. Our school is located in California and has just recently been recognized with a California Distinguished School award. My students raised money this year for Smile Power(an organization that fixes cleft palates) by having a bake sale. They raised enough money to fix more than 5 cleft palates. They have also been involved in several fundraisers for our sister school in Richmond, California where we send donations for school supplies, books, playground balls, and sometimes money for classroom supplies.

My Project

As a class we will have instant access to anything we want to show the entire class visually. This really stretches across all curriculum in the class. Students will also be able to use the document camera for sharing their projects and writing. We are currently beginning a unit on becoming explorers of the world around us. Students are giving oral presentations and reports about the world around them. They use props and visual aids to help give their presentations. They will be sharing collections and thought processes, as well as organization methods. They will be able to instantly show and explain their thought processes behind their explorations by using this camera in the classroom.

This tool in the classroom is the answer to better and more exciting learning.

Students can be taught and shown examples and visual materials instantly which will make learning more exciting and stimulating. So many times we want to say "LOOK at this!!!" This tool is the answer!
