My Students

My students desire and deserve the latest technology. They need to know that iPods are not just for listening to music, surfing the Internet, and playing games. iPods were once considered just a portable music player, however, they are now making a splash in many K-12 and college classrooms.

My special needs students live in a high-need, low-income community.

Despite their inner-city challenges, they are eager to go to the next learning level of fun and excitement. As Resource Support students, they often move between the general education and the special education environments. With that said, they need tools for mobile learning. The iPods will help them to get the learning anywhere.

My Project

Sparked by the enormous popularity of iPod and iTunes, mobile learning is changing education in a big way. iPods are just one example of tools for mobile learning. The iPod has mobile applications for my mobile students. I can implement mobile learning by creating an education content, getting the content to the students, and then have them tune in when they're ready. There is so much they can learn like: converting inches to centimeters, browsing Wikipedia, finding synonyms in a thesaurus, working on hundreds of educational applications, etc.

My students will discover how the new technology is used for teaching and learning.

I will help to transform the iPod into a learning device by uploading study materials like Spark Notes and study guides. From foreign language and music lessons to sharing photo slide shows to podcasts and more. The iPod's portability and digital content storage makes it a great educational tool.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
