Hello donors! I am middle school science teacher in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. I am in desperate need of a vacuum pump to help explain to my 6th grade students why there is no sound in space. To complete this demonstration we also needed a bell in a jar which my colleagues and I actually received through a previously funded proposal. When there is air inside the jar, naturally you can see and hear the bell ringing. However with the pump we can create a vacuum where the jar is devoid of a medium in which sound can travel in, as in space. When this vacuum is created you can see the bell ringing but can't hear it! Lamentably, I assumed the bell in a jar would come with its own vacuum pump. I was wrong. Please help to make this exciting demonstration a reality. I just need this one last part!
