My Students

Do you remember what it was like when you read a book for the first time? Many of my students struggle with reading and don't like to pick up a book-- now is their time to shine!!!

I work with students with special needs in 6th grade.

I have all boys in my classroom and many of them do not have any desire to read. We attend a low income, public school in the state of New York. My students consist of many behavior problems as well as learning disabilities.

My Project

I am requesting books that will help build students love for reading! These books will allow us to read the same books as a class and allow all students to feel a sense of belonging and desire to keep on reading even when an adult is not watching over their shoulder.

This is an important project because reading makes the world go round.

It is important that all students learn how to read at a young age. All my students are reading far below grade level and have no desire to read. These books will be topics that the students are engaged in and will make them excited about reading. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated more than you know!
