My Students

My students compete in an extensive History Project throughout the school year, so it is like they have 2 curricula at one time. We split the week between our regular Social Studies and the NHD Project. These workbooks would help greatly, but I don't have money in the budget to buy them

My students are very eager to learn, but there are only so many minutes in a class period.

The need something they can take home (we don't issue textbooks) and study. They also need a way to review material that we move through quickly. Our school is very low income and supplies are often hard to acquire. Teachers are not allowed to ask students to bring supplies other than the basics and tissues. Even if we were, most would not be able to get the supplies. There is no way most of these kids could afford to bring $10 for a workbook.

My Project

Buckle Down TX 4th Edition (8th Grade Social Studies) is one of the coolest workbooks that I have ever reviewed. Imagine learning about American History through 1877 in just 11 lessons!!! I wish I would have had this when I was in school. The workbooks have a great lay out and TAKS study questions (which are very beneficial). The student set also includes two Practice TAKS tests. The workbooks are copyrighted and I cannot copy them. The workbooks would be checked out to students and then returned after the assignments are complete.

The TAKS test has become one of the most important days of a Texas student's life.

Progressing to the next grade is reliant on some of the tests! These workbooks are a great way to add to what I am teaching my kids in class. It has great summaries and review questions. I will keep these as a class set that can be checked out to students (for years to come). Please help by donating. My students love learning and will greatly appreciate this help to their future.
