My Students

Kindergartens creating PowerPoint Presentations! It is possible! Please help my students "project" what they have and will learned about a chosen ocean animal. They will take photographs of their animal at the Zoo to put in their PowerPoint presentation and Ocean animals class book.

I teach at a year-round, extended-day (8am-5pm) charter school on the west side of Chicago.

Because we do have a longer school day, it is a challenge to engage students for nine hours a day. When this grant is funded, it will benefit my current 25 Kindergarten students and future classes. It will help my students discover new places to find information about their interests, learn how to organize information using new technology and resources, and celebrate their accomplishments with families.

My Project

This project will help my students become better listeners and speakers in front of others by presenting what they have learned about an animal they have chosen in front of their families and peers at an end-of-the-year celebration. The LCD projector and pull-down projector screen will enable our celebration to become a success. I will also be able to to use the LCD projector to connect my students with the Internet. It will also help them develop research skills using a variety of resources. It is important for students to learn about their interests, such as animals, through a variety of , including Kidspiration, the Internet, magazines, interviewing animal experts, and books. They will be able to relay what they learn through research to teach others about animals. I believe that an LCD projector will help to engage students throughout the year to help them learn about the world.
