My Students

Do you remember sitting in a classroom desk all day learning from text books? Wasn't it boring? This is exactly what made me want to become a teacher. I love to teach outside the box and use technology to enhance student learning.

We are located in a small town in Connecticut.

Our school has many students on the free or reduced lunch plan, but you would never guess that from the amount of excitement in the atmosphere. Students are excited to learn and strive to their school a better place. My classroom is made up of twenty-two completely different students. There are seven special education students that receive extra services throughout the day. The students are energetic and love helping others. Not all of them can afford technology so it is a privilege to be able to use computers, cameras, and other equipment at school.

My Project

We would love to use a Flip Video recorder to record our exciting projects, lessons, readers' theater plays, and so many other meaningful experiences. Currently we have a class website, but thought of the idea of adding video to it. If a student is absent and misses an important lesson, they could watch it on our website. If we work hard on fluency and put on a readers' theater play, we could record it, to listen to ourselves reading fluent. If we write up a lab report to an awesome science experiment, we could record it and re-watch it to make more specific observations. The possibilities are endless and we would sure get a lot of use out of this camcorder!

It would mean so much to the students if we were to receive this Flip Video because they are always wanting to incorporate more technology in the classroom.

The students are more engaged and excited when there is technology involved because gives them more of a desire to learn. They are always striving to do their best and if they know they are going to be on film, it might give them an extra push. This camcorder will be used in the years to come so it will be helping many students.
