My Students

My school is situated in California, on a street where drug trafficking is the norm. Most of my students do not have computers or cameras at home. Thus, they deserve to have access to 21st century resources at school.

My students love Youtube videos and they're energetic about presenting in front of the class.

They enjoy using technology and love watching video clips as a way of understanding our material, because they are comfortable using technology. In terms of a demographic break-down, they are approximately 70% African American, 20% Pacific Islander, and 10% Latino.

My Project

Since our school is a Business and Technology school, and my students do regular presentations in our class, they would greatly benefit from the opportunity to view and critique their presentational skills. In the past, when I have borrowed my colleague’s 's camcorder, my students' presentations improved because they knew that the class would be viewing and critiquing their presentations. Prior to presenting, because they knew they were going to be filmed, they also prepared thoroughly because they wanted to "look good" on video. Having a digital camcorder would allow me to not only record their presentations more frequently, but also record informal conversations to get feedback on pronunciation.

Please help us make our learning environment more technologically savvy!
