My Students

My students have severe multiple disabilities and need a lot of support while getting into different positions. They suffer from muscle contractions and get stiff and sore if they sit too long in their wheelchairs. They need a lot of opportunities throughout the day to change positions.

My students have many disabilities to overcome, but they are great kids who like to have fun!

They attend a regular education high school in Illinois, but have a room of their own. They love interacting with adults and getting out of their wheelchairs.

My Project

My students will be able to stretch out and perform assisted exercises using this wedge. They will be happier, healthier and stronger! They will be able to lie in a prone position to reach for stimulating objects, stretch out in a supported position while performing different exercises.

Sitting in wheelchairs all day long is not good for their health.

These students need variety during their day which includes reaching for stimulating objects, performing assisted exercises and just getting in a prone position with support is crucial to their overall health.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
