Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 8th grade. I have been teaching for 6 years and am presently working towards my National Board Certification. My school is Title I and over 75% of my students qualify for free and/or reduced lunch.

Being that my school is Title I, we don't always have the funds to order additional books and resources.

The students should not be at a disadvantage simply because they do not have the funds for a pretty classroom. We have received many funded resources from donors choose and now we need a place to keep them!

My Project

I have personally purchased wooden ones and they are always destroyed by the time the custodial staff is done cleaning for the summer. Metal bookcases would survive middle school life much better than wooden ones. Metal bookcases would allow the students to keep textbooks and binders around the room, easily accessible, but neat.

My students are working very hard to create an engaging learning environment.

We have redesigned the classroom to have big group tables and now they would like a safe place to keep their supplies. Not only will they benefit this graduating class, but they will benefit future classes as well.
