Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the lead science teacher in a diverse urban school. I want my students to become skilled, passionate, and habitual lifelong learners. However, it’s no secret that most students simply are not excited about science.

I want my students to really understand the topic presented to them, and the only way I could do this is my making sure my science lessons are hands-on.

To do this, I need a lot more science resources. I want students to learn about the school garden and provide wonderful learning opportunities.

My Project

For this reason, I want my student to become "greener." We have a wonderful school garden and I want to use it to enhance their learning. For this reason, I have requested magnifiers. I want them to be able to really look at the plants and insects in the garden. For example, when learning about insects, I want them to collect some and observe them. The same thing will be done with the various flowers and plants they will collect in the school garden. I have also requested thermometers and various other materials so that students can collect data about the environment they are taking data from. Instead of having students learn about the various equipment, I want them to use them and collect the data.

Your help will ensure that my students have the opportunity to study plants and animals in a more in-depth way.
