First grade is the year of learning how to read and write. We need a new reading/writing center to help us do that!

Due to many cuts that our district is facing this year in our budget this is one item that will not get ordered for my classroom. The reading/writing center will be useful for several learning activities that will easily involve the students and spark their interest in reading and writing.

Having the new reading/writing center in my classroom will allow me to provide a more engaging and interactive approach to many different reading and writing activities. These activities include daily oral language, guided reading, whole group reading, writer's workshop and work with words. The center allows for teacher and student use. For a first grader this is an important part of school; them getting to use the materials also.

Your help with this project will make it possible for my students to have a "hands on" experience to learning how to read and write. They will become better readers and writers because they will have a high interest in using the reading/writing center. They will get more involved and in turn learn more. Please help me make reading and writing fun for my first graders!!
