How would you feel if you were expected to do your job, but couldn't physically fit into your assigned work station?

The desks in my room are the product of a prior, smaller generation and years of abuse and neglect (many have gouged surfaces and etched writings on them). Our students include those who can't physically fit into these desks due to obesity or pregnancy. These students come to our alternative high school for academic credit recovery. Imagine their self-esteem simply with this reality. Now consider the level of concentration on their studies when confronted with the additional embarrassment of their inability to even sit comfortably in the classroom. They deserve a better environment.

My students need tables at which they can perform their studies without the distraction caused by their physical condition. They should have a writing surface free of graffiti and gouges. These tables will create an atmosphere more conducive to the academic credit recovery they are pursuing.

These students are part of our future. Education is a key component to their success and contribution to our society. Your support with these tables will tell them that they are important and someone believes in them. These tables may be the catalyst needed to spur them on to achieve their goal of a high school diploma and beyond. Help me to make this a reality.
