We want to play tennis ANYTIME we feel like it! I teach physical education at a magnet middle school in North Carolina. We basically have a newly renovated school but we have no tennis courts anymore! Being a magnet school, we offer a variety of choices of classes. We HAD two old asphalt courts but they were demolished. Now we just have a multipurpose/basketball outdoor court.

Tennis was a popular course offering before the renovation but now we lose that option; unless we get some much needed help. We've tried to get some portable poles and badminton nets and have some make-shift nets, but that doesn't work well. It is a slow setup/takedown process and that takes away a lot of much needed time. Also, the makeshift items do not function very well when it comes to storage and unpacking, etc. Plus, even though we have tried to still have tennis with this situation, we don't have an electrical outlet nearby like we used to have at our old facility and the ball machine that we had was broken in the building construction process. Budget cutbacks prevented us from replacing that too!

So, our needs are: speedy and suitable nets for tennis instruction and a battery-powered ball machine to enhance skill acquisition. All of this will save us time in order to increase the amount of instruction and hands-on practice of skills. The students would be so excited since tennis was always filled to capacity before. Parents would appreciate it too, thus making our curriculum offerings more attractive.

In review, on behalf of our administration, PE teachers, students, and parents, we appeal to you for assistance in fulfilling a need and a wish that we have to make our school and program an even better place than it already is. Thank you so much for your assistance!
