My students need 19 books that they will love to read as much as they love to play basketball.

March Madness is coming and I want my students to be as excited about reading as they are about basketball!

My school is facing all of the problems of urban high schools across the country. When I walked into my classroom in August, it was a sad sight. It's been a long year, and my students have faced many challenges without the things that many schools take for granted, like books. The majority of my students are below grade level in reading and particularly the boys need extra motivation to read.

My students need an infusion of excitement to keep them motivated to stay in school and keep them reading. They love basketball, and they'll pick up anything, including a book, if it's about basketball.

I don't have the resources to buy all of my students books that they will love to read all by myself. That's where you can help make a huge difference in their lives. Young adults who can't read are more likely to wind up in jail. Help inspire my students to read by getting the kinds of books they'll love to read in front of them.
