I am the School Based Interventionist in a rural community with an at-risk population of over 35%. "Celebrating Summer at School" is a new program that I hope to start with a small number of at-risk students in my school building. The school district is in a high-need community with very few resources.

My goal is to provide a structured summer program for a number of students who need support and guidance throughout the summer months. My program does not have a budget and therefore doesn't allow me to purchase materials and supplies for my students. Many students in my building have expressed an interest in my summer program and I want to make this project worthwhile for the youth.

I have requested 10 journals, Speed Stacks Cups and Mat, one set of collage frames, one set of collage pots, a "What Would You Do?" book about real-life problems, and the following art supplies: beads, glitter paint, and brush-on painters. The resources that the project is in need of will not only make the program fun and inviting for the youth, but they will also allow students to learn and grow through the program as well. By providing at-risk youth with a program over the summer will enable these youth to stay connected to their school community, which in turn will help foster positive alternatives to otherwise risky summer behaviors. The resources requested by this project will provide unique and challenging activities for this group of youth to be involved in.

Your generosity and contributions to this program will provide a glimmer of hope for an otherwise dull and bleak summer for many children. You will make it possible for these students to maintain a connection with their peers and caring adults from their school. Not only will you make it possible for this project to happen, you will also impact the lives of children who otherwise get ignored and abandoned during the summer months.
