Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Imagine a classroom where EVERY student is engaged, participating, and is getting instant feedback on their responses. I would like to make this classroom a reality for my students! I teach at a small charter high school where over 70% of the students are Latino and most are low-income. The goal of our school is to ensure that 100% of our students enter and GRADUATE from a four-year college or university, and I want to ensure that my students have the resources that will help them achieve this goal. I would like to get a clicker system for my classroom that would allow students to submit responses to questions using a remote-control device. This way, when I ask my students a question, I can instantly gage how many students are understanding the material and adjust my lesson in the moment, rather than waiting for raised hands and then hearing only a few student responses or grading a quiz at the end of the lesson. I would also be able to track each student's answers so that during each lesson I know who is understanding and who needs more support. This would allow me to target my tutoring more effectively to ensure that ALL students are mastering the material. Aside from making lessons more effective, this system will make class more fun and engaging for students. Students love technology, and they will get to "buzz-in" and see instantly if they have the correct answer like they are on a game show. They will need to be paying attention constantly, because they will never know when they will need to submit a response. College professors are using this technology more frequently during their lectures, so I would love to ensure that my students are familiar with this before they set foot in a college classroom. Please help me bring this amazing tool to my students!
