I work in a middle school library which serves grades 6-8. Our school has approximately 720 students.

The student library advisory committee wants to create displays in order to highlight certain books in the library and encourage other students to check out books in the library. In order to make creative, attractive library displays, they need supplies which the library does not currently have.

The student library advisory committee knows that in order to encourage student use of the library and increase student interest in checking out books, they must draw attention to books in the library. The best way to do this is to create displays which highlight certain titles they feel are quality literature and that other students will want to read, too. The students need gift bags, tissue paper, pens, and other art supplies to create these displays.

Literacy is the cornerstone of all other learning, but unfortunately middle school students are often discouraged from reading because they can't find books they like. By allowing other students to highlight certain titles, other students will be more likely to check out books in the library and increase their literacy.
