I am one of two Physical Education teachers for almost 600 students. In my Physical Education classes I create lessons that will give my students the skills they need to lead healthy and active lives. Because we have so many students in our school we have two classes come to PE at a time, which leaves us less space to work with. I teach in the gymnasium half of the time and the cafeteria half of the time. When I am teaching in the cafeteria I need to have lessons that are fun and exciting while still being safe in a small space. In my search for activities that require little space but still have large benefits for my students I came across Cup (or Sport) Stacking. Cup stacking is an exciting individual and team sport where competitors stack and unstack 12 specially designed high tech cups called speed stacks in predetermined sequences. It is easy to learn and appeals to all ability levels of students. It promotes hand-eye coordination, ambidexterity, quickness, and concentration - skills needed to excel in both sports and academics. When students are stacking, they're using both sides of their bodies and brains to develop skills that can transfer to other sports, as well as playing a musical instrument, computer typing and more. Receiving these cups will meet the needs of the my Physical Education program and fulfill needs of student's different ability levels. Your help will make it possible for my students to have fun and exciting games to play in PE even with limited space. You will also help to improve their hand-eye coordination, concentration, and quickness which carries over into sports and academic success.
