Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello, I teach first grade in a wonderful school. It is a wonderful school that needs to update to keep our children current with technology. We receive very little special funding and as a result are lacking in funds to buy new equipment.

Teaching first graders to write is really exciting! They love to write! They come in with very little skills and leave writing paragraphs and stories. This progress comes with an abundance of individual instruction with each child on their writing paper.

With a document camera, I will be able to display daily writing on a large screen and have students be the editors. We will be able to discuss our writing and help the author make corrections and improvements. With this camera that displays the writing for all to see, everyone can learn about writing skills at the same time and we can also learn from our classmates work not just our own paper.

Your help with this donation will allow us to spend so much more effective time on writing instruction. Learning will really take off! This camera will allow us to easily read each others work and help individuals improve while learning how to make our own writing better. It will be very effective in teaching writing to six year olds who need lots of repetition and support.
