Our small, rural school is full of students excited to learn, and a lab full of 1960s lab equipment. Many of our students spend hours outside of school working on family ranches and wondering about life outside of our small town. These hardworking students need and deserve experience using more current technology and up-to-date materials.

Our students and their families struggle financially. They are the hardest workers I have ever known; they work as hard as they need to in order to succeed, but often don't have the opportunities to learn that other larger, more affluent school district students do.

Adding more current technology to our science lab will enhance student learning in ways they don't even suspect. Over the past two years I have been trying to build a lab that uses more updated equipment in order to give students a more realistic science lab experience. I have seen their excitement grow and their involvement increase. Science becomes something they are active participants in and not just watchers of. My request for 2 netbooks will allow all of my classes (physical science, biology, and chemistry) to technologically connect their labwork in ways they have never done before.

Your help and support will help enthusiastic students become active in modern lab techniques. If you could see their excitement when they work on science they've seen on tv or have heard about, you would know how much your support does to promote learning to students who deserve a strong education. Without your help, they may not get that chance.
