Ms P and Company is a scientific research company that is based in the classroom. 8th grade Science is often a time when students have lost interest in Science. The differentiated approach to instruction that takes place in this classroom inspires students to think outside of the box and push themselves farther than they ever thought possible. Our school has limited access to many things, but we have over come many of these obstacles to create an engaging and exciting place for students of all ability levels to find strength and gain self confidence in their abilities.

This classroom is a living laboratory. Students are employees of this research company and are engaged in real world, problem based instruction on a daily basis. Often students are challenged to develop new solutions to problems and then asked to share them with the other members of the Ms P and Company staff. In the process of developing solutions students often sketch out ideas on paper using concept maps, schematics, and hand drawn models. Students are asked daily to share their ideas with other members of the classroom and also with members of all of my other class periods. Right now this process is being hampered by the inability to show these great ideas and share them easily with everyone. The addition of a document camera to the classroom will allow students to easily show, scan, and share their ideas with other employees of Ms P and Company.

The addition of a document camera will allow students to present, photograph, and share their projects. These opportunities will allow for personal growth and greater accomplishments for students.

Your generous donation will allow students to begin to focus on a bright future that is full of potential. Students will be empowered to share their ideas and work as project management teams working towards the solution of a common and real world problem. You will make it possible for students to see how to work effectively just as teams of adults work together in a real work environment in the adult world. With your donation to this project we can expand our project to reach outside of the classroom and into the real world.
