Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

In our school, students come from a variety of backgrounds and the student population is quite varied in terms of socio-economic status. I teach 6th and 7th graders in Virginia and two of my classes are co-taught special education classes. Because we have a limited budget for math supplies, we greatly appreciate the generosity of outside donors.

Throughout the week, students participate in different math activities and stations that encourage them to problem-solve, collaborate and see math in many different ways. However we do not have the funding to buy the necessary technology - we want ALL students to have access to a classroom laptop. Stations that involve technology are imperative because the students are so interested in computers!

We are looking for support for four laptops that will stay in our classroom to enable students access to online games and videos that support the content we are learning. Students are very engaged in technology and there is so much that we can offer them with the tools. There are math games and related math videos that encourage student learning. Because so many of our students are tech-savvy, they learn very well with technology!

Your donation will support student learning beyond the basic curriculum. Our school's mission is to support student learning and engagement. We foster a climate of growth, respect, and academic support for all students, and through appropriate technology, we can prepare our students even better! We appreciate you and your contributions to our school!
