Mrs. Weathers from Orangeburg SC is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 27 copies of both of the novels "Push" and "After".

In South Carolina, test scores are low and students achievement and success is at an all time low. I teach at an urban high school where students are in need of motivation, encouragement, and reading materials that they can truly relate to.
My school is in a very low income area where there are not many books in our library. The books that appeal to our students are not always available for them to read. So many times, our students would read if they could just get their hands on a book that they could relate to and see their own lives with in the pages.
By donating to help purchase Push and After, two books for my students, you would not just be helping them to get new books to read, you would be helping them to expand their vocabulary, improve test scores, and raise their reading abilities. These two books would greatly benefit my classroom because the students will be able to relate to the main characters and the problems the characters face. These students need all the help they can get in their endeavors to college. Their futures lie in the pages of a book. Reading is the key to their success. The more they read, the better their vocabulary, and the higher the SAT scores and the more likely these students are to go on to college and other post high school educational opportunities.
Your help will help these students to seize their futures and to finally realize that reading can be fun! We need your help in showing these students that books are their friends!
