Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This is my third year teaching second grade in inner city Georgia. My students are in great need and I try to do everything I can to give them a safe, fun, loving classroom.

I teach 23 wonderful second graders. All of my students get free lunch. Most of my families are struggling to survive.

My students need a new reading rug. I have been teaching at the same inner city school for three years. When I arrived at the school there was a reading rug in the classroom that was very old, dirty, and worn out. I tried my best to clean it and make it work. It has gotten to the point where it is so dirty we can't even use it. My students keep asking when we can get a new reading rug. They love to lay on the reading rug in our classroom library and relax and read. We usually do story time and class discussions on the reading rug. We spend a lot of our class time on the reading rug and that is not possible any more. This beautiful new reading rug will be just what my classroom needs!

My students love to read! This new rug will motivate them even more to go to our beautiful new classroom library, pick up a book, and read!
