Thinking Outside the Book

My students need 2 digital flip cameras for research projects.

Our students love to read, research and relate to the world around them. My goal as the school librarian is to make sure students have opportunities to enjoy books and enhance their knowledge with technology. Many of our students do not have access to computers, digital cameras and other forms of technology at home. Our students show so much enthusiasm for library and classroom projects integrated with technology. I want to make sure that our curious, creative students have many hands on experiences using technology. A Flip camera is a versatile, compact digital camcorder. The camera is light, portable, durable. The camera has wide angle lens that makes it an excellent low-light video camera. Students can easily videotape and upload clips on their class web page or show the world their activity on the web. A Flip video camera put in students' hands would make it possible for them not to just engage in their learning but create their learning. Students could create book talks, photo stories and their own research topics. The Flip video camera is perfect for a student to take on field trips , conduct interviews, and video a variety of material to create oral histories or practice oral presentations. The Flip video camera has such simple features that a kindergartner could use it to record their activities everyday in their work groups. I would like a Flip video camera to use for for library projects and an additional one for teachers to check out for class projects. Our school is a K-8 school, so the diversity of projects would be endless... I would sincerely appreciate any donations to fulfill my request for two Flip video camcorders. Our students are creative, multimedia users. Thank you for helping our students create and “think outside the book”
