I am the Writing Lab Coordinator for students in grades 9-12 in a moderately poor urban district. Students research information on the Internet, write papers, create PowerPoint presentations and do their homework assignments on these computers.

The problem is that sometimes the network server denies a student's ability to save work on the computer. At times, we are able to work around the problem, but not always. It is frustrating for students who have often put hours of work into a project only to lose it.

If we had 25 flash drives, we could loan them out to students so they could save their work to take to another computer (at home, at the public library, at a friend's house etc). Students could then complete their assignments, present their PowerPoint presentations, etc. in their classes and then return the flash drive to the Writing Lab where someone else could borrow it.

Your help will make it possible for all students to save their computer work. They will then be able to continue their work at home or elsewhere. When completed, the work may be printed out or used to load a PowerPoint presentation for their classrooms assignments.
