Learning Tools For Kindergarten Autistic Children

My students need 10 different alternative activities, such as giant stampers, play dough, letter beads and string. They also need break (choice) activities that focus on social skills, for example, potato heads.

In my class of 22 Kindergarteners I have two autistic boys that are in need of special learning tools that my school cannot provide because of recent budget cuts.

Both boys are performing below grade level and need alternate activities that are hands on and help them learn at the same time. Some of the alternate activities that they can be doing are forming the letter "A" with play dough or stamping the letter "A" on paper and tracing it with their finger. At this time I have requested color tape, play dough, lower and upper case play dough stampers, letter beads with string, and a few other developmentally accurate activities for my students.

They need activities that help them feel that they are part of the class, but doing it at their own level and pace. Just because they aren't working on writing "A" words they can instead work on forming the letter "A" with play dough.

You will make it possible for my students to learn and be a part of the class. Everybody deserves the chance to learn and be successful, and you are helping them do exactly that!
