"My mother will kill me if I sit on that!" I am the special education art teacher from grades pre-k through fifth. I also teach CTT classes which integrates Special Education with the General Education population. We are a high needs school (Title 1) where money is tight. My school is a uniform school, although there are children that do not wear them due to poverty issues.

My art program is based on the Blueprints For The Arts which incorporates all of the subjects with art. We put art into math, science, art history and language arts. The children meet with me on the floor, sitting on a very old shredded carpet. I have a lot of arguments with them due to the fact that they don't want to sit on it. Most have on a uniform that needs to be worn all week and are afraid their parents will get mad if it gets dirty. That's where the question, "to sit or not to sit?" comes in.

We would be so grateful to get a new carpet. It would be great to have a lot of colors, being this is an art room, and needs to be cheery. I love seeing happy faces on my students, and this carpet portrays exactly that on it's picture.

We need your help badly. If we could have a clean colorful carpet, my students would settle down immediately and get right into their lessons. You would make a world of difference by helping support my students. We would have this carpet for many, many years to come. We thank you for all you do.
