This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am a kindergarten teaching in a charter school that serves a high needs community. We currently do not have the budget to buy any extras for the classroom.
Most of my students come from a high needs background. So it is essential that their school day allows them to play, socialize and learn throughout the day. My room is small and allows for little space to play. I need to provide them with materials that are not only easy to store and a quick cleanup, but fun.
Wooden blocks would perfectly solve my problem. They are quite easy to store. Not only do they teach concepts of math, such a geometry, but they provide an outlet for children to socialize and learn to work together.
Providing these blocks will greatly change my students school experience. I am sure that their smiles at the end of the day will be just a little bit brighter!
