Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach kindergarten in a low income area. Our school receives free breakfast and lunch. All students come in the morning and have breakfast in the classroom with me the first 15 minutes of the day. It's a great way to start our day!

It would be really nice for each student to come to the rug and have their very own spot to sit at. Our students are learning to adjust to Kindergarten. These little energetic bodies need their space defined on the rug. They are learning to be good listeners and respect the personal space of their peers. A rug with defined lines will help us accomplish this goal.

We need a rug with lines that will fit 29 little bodies. Rug time in kindergarten is essential. Our rug time helps us transition from one activity to the next. Currently I use painter's tape to make the extra squares that we need. Some students sit on a hard surface while some sit on the rug we currently have. We spend a lot of time on the rug singing, reading and listening to stories.

Your help will ensure that each one of my kindergartners will have a safe and cozy spot of their very own on the rug and it will also help me manage all those little energetic bodies as well! Thank you!
