Our class revolves around centers - come be a part of it with us! I am a 1st grade teacher in a medium poverty school. Unfortunately, medium poverty = no funding!

Nevada is facing some of its toughest economic times since the 80's. Education has taken the toughest hit. In a nutshell, our school has no money for the 2009/2010 for any "extras." This means teachers have lost their $200 expenditure for buying much needed supplies.

In first grade, students naturally get excited over "centers." It is their time to explore, move about their environment, and talk with peers. Since our reading scores have been so low, I would like to integrate technology with reading. I feel 3 LeapPads with 1st grade starter kits will enable my students to further their love of reading and improve reading fluency.

Your further donation of 9 mats (2 children per mat)will enable them to sit at their centers and at reading time on something other than a hard floor. This soft pad along with the lovable stuffed animals I am buying for them will create a feeling of a home away from home. Anything you can donate is appreciated by all teachers. Thanks for all you do!
