Lights, Digital Camera Action in Pre-K Class!

My students need a digital camera in order to capture events and learning throughout the year. We create power points, assessment portfolios, and mini photo albums for each student of his Pre-K year.

I teach in a public school in Louisiana. My students are in a Federal Pre-K program in which all of my students are on free or reduced lunch. They range from ages 4 to 5 years old. I am an ESL designated class, which means most of my students are learning English as a second language.

The Pre-K year of school is special to the children because it is their first experience at school. I try to capture photos of the children on field trips, special days and regular classroom activities to help both inform the parents and to keep a memorable collection of the Pre-K year. At my school, we have 3 Pre-k classes and one digital camera which we share and rotate from class to class, and we cannot always hold up the children's creativity to the day when I get the camera back.

I would like to get a digital camera for my classroom, so that I could have it to use with my kids daily. Kids are so creative and move so fast, I would love to have this resource to enrich the students' assessments and projects.

You will make it possible to help document learning for assessment as well as help us create class projects. My assessments come in the forms of work samples, and photographs in order to capture the child's strengths. My students help to create a PowerPoint of the year for our Pre-K End of the year program and mini photo albums for their families to share. A picture says a 1,000 words in any language and the families cherish these memories of Pre-K.
