I teach an inclusive classroom which accommodates up to 80 students within the course of the day. I have students with special needs, at-risk tendencies, regular learning needs, and high achievers.

The 5th grade students at our school have the opportunity to go on a Senior Trip to New York City and Washington, D.C. Some students have never been able to leave the county much less the state. By creating podcast and videos, the students will be able to share their "once in a lifetime" experience with those who weren't able to attend as well as encourage upcoming 5th graders to take advantage of the opportunity. We will also share the details of the trip with the community and stakeholders through our podcast which can be viewed on the blog site that has recently been established.

We will need a laptop computer so that my students can create and develop their podcast and videos for the world to see. They will document their experience of our country's history not through a textbook, but through the eyes of a 5th grader.

Your contribution to this project will provide students the ability to learn and develop the computer skills needed to create podcasting and video journalism that they can take with them for a lifetime. You never know, we might have the next Tom Brokaw or Katie Couric sitting in the midst of our classroom.
