I teach right outside the gates of an Air Force base and 80% of my students are military dependents. The Art program is a new one and already after one year, we now have more than 50 middle school students signed up for our year long art class. My students are grades 7 and 8.

This year I taught a nine week wheel art class. Those same students rotated from art to Spanish to speech, to Health. They got a taste of paiting, art history, clay and could then decide to take a year long art class in grades 7 and 8. We have limited funding and since the course is just beginning, we need to purchase so many tools and supplies. Parents are constantly being deployed and money of the enlisted men and women is short. Students love to draw and paint.

Presently we are working on a shoe string budget. We have a used kiln but no clay or materials. We have a small room but lots of enthusiasm. Our school has less than 500 students in middle school and already we are increasing from one art class to two for next year because of the enthusiasm.

Your help would greatly enhance my art program and make it possible for my students to take an elective that has never before been offered. You help would be invaluable.
